Nearly two decades after Bhagam Bhag (2006) turned confusion into comedy gold, its sequel is steadily moving from speculation to reality. Fresh casting shifts, new collaborations, and surprising character arcs have reignited excitement among fans eager for another round of chaos.
While Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal remain central pillars of the franchise, the sequel is shaping up to look very different from the original ensemble.

Paresh Rawal Set for Double Trouble
One of the biggest highlights of the sequel comes straight from Paresh Rawal himself. The veteran actor, whose comic timing elevated the first film, is now stepping into not one but two characters.
During a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Rawal confirmed the news enthusiastically. When asked about whether or not he is actually playing a double role in the film, the actor said, “Yes, I do.”
“I am excited. Maza aayega. Dhamaal hoga!” he exclaimed, expressing his high hopes for the filming process.
Rawal is no stranger to dual roles. Over the years, he has showcased this knack in films like Platform, Andaz Apna Apna, Janam Kundli, and Chor Machaye Shor. He also memorably portrayed multiple characters in Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, proving that juggling personas is second nature to him.
Cast Shake-Up: Govinda Steps Out, Manoj Bajpayee Steps In
The sequel’s lineup won’t entirely mirror the beloved trio from 2006. Reports confirm that Govinda will not reprise his role this time, marking a significant departure from the original dynamic. Filling that space is Manoj Bajpayee – an acclaimed performer rarely seen in full-blown comic entertainers.
Rawal addressed the fresh pairing with optimism, saying, “It’ll make for a different and unique combination.”
Still, the absence of Govinda has left many fans nostalgic.
Acknowledging this sentiment, Rawal added, “However, we’ll miss Govinda,” while reacting to the news. When asked about the reason behind the casting change, he clarified that he had no involvement, stating, “I have genuinely no idea.”
Behind the Camera: A New Creative Vision
The transformation isn’t limited to the actors. This time, Raaj Shaandilyaa – known for the Dream Girl franchise – takes over directing duties from Priyadarshan, who helmed the original. The shift suggests a new comedic flavor while preserving the franchise’s trademark mayhem.
Meanwhile, Meenakshi Chaudhary joins the project, marking her theatrical Bollywood debut. Though she appeared earlier in Upstarts, that film went straight to streaming, making this her first big-screen outing.

A Packed Line-Up for Rawal and Akki
The coming years look busy for the iconic Akshay Kumar–Paresh Rawal duo. Apart from Bhagam Bhag 2 slated for 2027, they will share screen space in the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, arriving on April 10, 2026. The multi-starrer Welcome To The Jungle follows on June 26, 2026.
However, not all news is smooth sailing. The much-awaited Hera Pheri 3 has reportedly hit a legal hurdle due to copyright concerns, leaving fans waiting for clarity.
