Class X student attacks junior with sharp weapon in Odisha school during school annual function

In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns over student safety, a Class IX student was allegedly attacked by a senior student at Remuna High School in Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Remuna police station and occurred while the school’s annual function was in progress.

According to preliminary reports, a dispute broke out between the two students during the event. Following the altercation, the Class X student allegedly attacked the junior student with a sharp weapon, leaving him seriously injured. The sudden act of violence caused panic among students, teachers, and attendees present at the school premises.

The injured Class IX student was immediately rushed to Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Hospital sources said the student received prompt medical attention, and his condition is being closely monitored.

Upon receiving information, Remuna police reached the school and launched an investigation into the incident. During the probe, police reportedly seized a sword from the possession of the accused student. The accused has been detained for questioning, and further legal action will be initiated based on the findings of the investigation.

School authorities are also conducting an internal inquiry to determine the circumstances that led to the incident. 

“A Class X student identified as Deepak Das attacked a Class IX student identified as Deep Roy and he sustained injury in his hand. Following the incident, our staff and peon immediately rushed the injured student to the nearby hospital for treatment. Later, he was shifted to the Medical College and the Hospital for advanced treatment. I have heard that the Class X student has surrendered before the police,” said Ranju Rani Das, Headmistress of the school.
