A day after thousands of live sea snails were found scattered along the Puri beach, several dolphins were spotted swimming off the coastline on Wednesday, drawing crowds and sparking curiosity among visitors.
Eyewitnesses said multiple dolphins were seen surfacing and moving along the busy Puri seashore during the day. At least four to five dolphins were observed swimming in the waters and heading towards the Chandrabhaga side. Locals believe the dolphins may have strayed from Chilika Lake, where such sightings are more common.
Rare Sight Along Busy Shoreline
Tourists present at the beach expressed surprise at witnessing dolphins so close to the bustling coastline. While dolphin sightings are frequently reported from Chilika, their appearance near the crowded Puri shore is considered relatively uncommon.
Visitors were seen gathering along the beach to catch a glimpse of the marine mammals as they briefly surfaced before diving back into the sea.
Marine Activity Raises Questions
The dolphin sighting came just a day after thousands of live sea snails were noticed along the same stretch of beach. The back-to-back marine occurrences have generated interest among both locals and tourists, with many speculating about possible environmental or tidal factors behind the events.
