A blunt and emotionally charged resignation letter has gone viral on social media, reigniting a nationwide conversation on toxic workplaces, burnout, and mental health at work. The short but powerful note, written by an employee, has struck a chord with thousands online for its raw honesty and refusal to sugarcoat suffering.
Stop Romanticizing Suffering
“I don’t have the time and energy to call you dear. This place is toxic, and I’m not strong enough to romanticize suffering. This job requires therapy. I resign. Immediately,” the letter reads.
The employee further added that he had ‘spiritually quit on day one’. “Spiritually, I had quit on day one,” he wrote.

The resignation has been widely shared across platforms, with many users calling it the most honest resignation letter of recent times. While some praised the courage it took to walk away, others said the letter reflected the silent struggles of countless employees who endure emotional distress, harassment, and burnout in the name of professionalism.
Serious Red Flag
Mental health experts say the letter highlights a growing crisis in modern workplaces, where toxic environments are often normalized, and employees are expected to cope without support.
“When work starts demanding therapy just to survive, it’s a serious red flag,” said a workplace psychologist.
The viral note has also sparked calls for stronger mental health policies, safer grievance mechanisms, and accountability in corporate culture.
