A furious Yashasvi Jaiswal refused to leave the field after a disastrous mix-up with captain Shubman Gill led to his run-out early on Day 2 of the second Test against the West Indies in Delhi.
Resuming at 173 overnight, Jaiswal could add only two runs before calamity struck in the eighth ball of the day. Facing a fuller delivery from Jayden Seales that angled away, Jaiswal confidently leaned forward and punched it straight to mid-off. Believing there was an easy single, he took off instantly.
However, Gill showed no interest in the run. The Indian skipper quickly looked back and stayed put, leaving Jaiswal stranded halfway down the pitch. Tagenarine Chanderpaul collected the ball swiftly and threw it to wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach, who fumbled slightly but managed to dislodge the bails just in time.

Stunned by the turn of events, Jaiswal was visibly upset. He hit his forehead in frustration and gestured angrily toward Gill, insisting, “Mera call hai” (“It was my call”) twice.
Gill, equally taken aback, stood silently as Jaiswal continued expressing his displeasure. Lost in his frustration, Jaiswal momentarily forgot that he was out, showing clear dissent before the umpire finally instructed him to leave the field.
