Amar Kaushik spills beans on his upcoming mythological film starring….

After delivering hits like Stree and Bhediya, filmmaker Amar Kaushik is now venturing into an entirely new world mythology. His upcoming film, Mahavatar, starring Vicky Kaushal, promises to be an epic rooted in faith, mythology, and personal memory. Kaushik calls it “a story that came from God,” describing it as one of the most spiritually meaningful films of his career.

A Story Born from Faith and Childhood Memories

In a recent conversation with PTI, Kaushik revealed that Mahavatar has been in his heart for years, inspired by his upbringing in Arunachal Pradesh. “We used to live near Parashuram Kund, and visiting it was a family ritual. The character has been with me since childhood,” he shared. The filmmaker added that while he always wanted to tell this story, the challenge lay in doing justice to its scale and spiritual depth. “It needed big resources and advanced VFX, but I wanted to stay true to the vision I’ve carried for years,” he said.

Vicky Kaushal as the ‘Chosen One’

Praising his lead actor, Kaushik said, “Whenever I meet Vicky, I see a lot of purity in him. He’s the best person to portray this character.” Preparations for the film, including set and costume design, are already underway, with filming expected to begin in 2026.

Beyond Horror-Comedy, Toward Divinity

Best known for his work in Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe, Kaushik sees Mahavatar as a creative leap into a more profound space. “This story connects me to my roots,” he said.
